Arrest made in Food Plus theft

PHILIPSBURG--A suspect M.J.A.D. (31) was arrested on Wednesday following a cash theft that took place at 9:00am Tuesday.

Police sent a patrol to Food Plus supermarket in the Philipsburg area after receiving a call regarding theft. On arrival, officers were informed by the storeowner that they had checked their petty-cash pan at approximately 11:00am and realised that someone had been able to take money undetected and had fled the store.

Officers on the scene were able to review the store’s camera footage and recognised the suspect who was responsible for the missing money.

The patrol located M.J.A.D. around 7:30am Wednesday, apprehended him, placed him under arrest and took him to the Philipsburg police station for further questioning.
