PHILIPSBURG--The Police Department is presently investigating an armed robbery of a Front Street jewellery store today, Friday at approximately 12.25pm.
The call came in to the Central Dispatch stating that a man dressed in dark clothing and armed with a handgun had entered Caribbean Gems Jewellery located next to Holland House. He threatened the workers with his weapon and then pulled several gold chains from the chain rack.
The culprit fled on foot towards Back Street, where he is believed to have jumped on a scooter that sped off. Several patrols searched the area to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
The case is under investigation by the Special Robbery Unit.
