Armed man robs Marechaussee

ALMOND GROVE--An armed and masked man robbed a Dutch Marechaussee at her home in Almond Grove, Cole Bay, around mid-afternoon Tuesday, leading to an “intense search” for the suspect.

The Marechaussee told officers on the scene that she had just arrived home around 3:00pm when she was confronted by an unknown masked man armed with a gun. The man threatened to use the weapon if she did not cooperate, police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a police press release issued shortly after the incident.

The robber took two shoulder bags belonging to the Marechaussee, which contained personal items such as a wallet, cellular telephone and some cash. After robbing the officer, the perpetrator fled the scene through the bushes at the back of the premises.

Henson said an intense search of the area ensued by several police officers, including the K-9 unit. However, the suspect was not found. The Special Robbery Unit is investigating the incident.
