ANGUILLA--The Royal Anguilla Police Force on Friday, January 8, at 4:05pm, responded to a report of an accident on Jeremiah Gumbs Highway. On arrival at the scene officers saw a motor vehicle with extensive damage. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 25-year-old Selwyn Horsford, Jr. of Rock Farm was trapped in the vehicle.

Officers of Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene and removed the driver, while members of the Ambulance Service gave medical assistance and transported Horsford to Princess Alexandra Hospital. At 5.20pm he was pronounced dead by the emergency doctor at the hospital.

The Police have not received any reports from witnesses, so are not able to say if any other vehicle was involved in the accident. To assist with their investigation the police are appealing to members of the public, who may have been on Jeremiah Gumbs Highway at the time of the accident and witnessed what happened to give any information to the Valley Police Station, or report on the police website at www.gov.ai/911.

Commissioner of Police Paul Morrison and members of the Force are extending sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased. A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the family during this difficult time.
