All hail Teen Carnival Queen Diandra Marlin

PHILIPSBURG--Cecilia Richardson, Yadiska Van Putten, Juli-ana Richardson and Diandra Marlin gave it their all in the much-anticipated Miss TelCell Teen Queen pageant last night. The rain did not stop the young contestants’ will to deliver a high quality show.

Marlin won eight sashes before being named the 2016-2017 Teen Queen. Third runner-up went to Cecilia Richardson, second runner-up to Juli-ana Richardson and first runner-up to Yadiska Van Putten.page6a279
Marlin impressed the panel of judges from her introduction speech which was well-articulated and clear. From the onset she received cheers and won the Social Media award and Miss Popularity.
Cecilia Richardson, a Vocational Training School student, in her talent segment spoke about education as a youth political commentator.
Juli-ana Richardson sang for her Talent segment about not giving up,
However, Marlin again outshone the other contestants with singing for her freedom in a mock courtroom. page6b279
Van Putten came close to the crown and had no problem in capturing Miss Amity, Best Culture Wear, Best Interview and Best Debater.
Richardson scored 1,035 points, Richardson scored 1,057 points, Van Putten 1,652 and Marlin won with 1,787 points.
Attendance at the show was rather low and was seen as the lowest turnout during Carnival in years. Posh Productions continues tonight at Carnival Village with the Senior Carnival Queen pageant starting at 8:00pm with a charge of US $15. Queen pageant lovers and supporters are requested to come out and support the two remaining shows.
