911 emergency phone lines temporarily out of service

PHILIPSBURG--The direct emergency 911 phone lines are encountering some technical operational difficulties, according to police on Wednesday.

Acting police spokesman Inspector Steven Carty said the telephone service providers had been contacted and informed of the situation, and were investigating the cause of the problem.

Meanwhile, the entire community is advised in case of any emergency to call 542-2222 and dial 1 when the recorded voice message comes on to. This will connect the caller to the Central Emergency Dispatch.

As soon as the telephone service providers resolve this technical problem the community will be informed, Carty said.
