8 years of prison time for suspended police officer

POINT BLANCHE--Suspended police officer Richmer York, also known as “Red Rum” has been handed down the judgment of eight years behind bars for killing 22-year-old Akeem Isidora in Belvedere near his home at Happy Estate on March 4th of this year.

The decision was announced on Wednesday morning by the judge who handled the case H. Smid. The public prosecutor requested 12 years from the court and considered it proven that the officer went to the home of Isidora with the intention of killing him. Countless witnesses testified that York instigated the argument before shooting Isidora with his service weapon.
