5 arrests made in drug trafficking investigation

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie disclosed over the weekend a month-long surveillance of a car park in Marigot had uncovered a drug trafficking operation existing between the car park and neighbouring houses.

On March 20, a judicial police operation was mounted involving various Gendarmerie units and a police canine team to break up the drug trafficking operation.
During the intervention of law enforcement, five individuals were arrested. The subsequent searches led to the discovery of 60 cannabis plants, some 2,700 in mixed euros and US dollars, 20 grams of crack cocaine, three grams of regular cocaine and an alarm pistol.
The suspects were released, but all will be summoned to court in the next few weeks to answer charges.
