CAY HILL--St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) treated 45 Milton Peters College (MPC) students to free eye care exams over the past weeks.

Officials of MPC approached SMMC with the request for free eye care exams for the students as part of their ongoing reading glasses project, to which SMMC responded positively by granting the request.

SMMC Optometrist Robert Bakker said, “It is a great project which we gladly participated in, as eye exams should be done from early on to make sure even the youngest eyes are in optimal health.”

SMMC’s new state-of-the-art Eye Care Clinic, which opened in September last year, is seeing an upsurge in eye patients visiting the clinic, which underlines SMMC’s commitment to expanding medical services on island by delivering quality care, close to home.

The Eye Care Clinic is located in SMMC’s Care Complex. Patients who wish to see the new eye specialists can make an appointment at the Outpatient Department on tel: 543-1111 ext. 1300/1310/1334 or 1345. Appointments can be made from Mondays to Fridays between 8:00am and 4:30pm. Social and Health Insurance SZV patients are requested to obtain a referral letter from their family doctor before visiting the eye specialists.
