Virtual Beer Tasting @ DIVICO Facebook Live

Virtual Beer Tasting @ DIVICO Facebook Live

Missing those happy hour beers with friends? Always wanted to become a professional beer taster? Join in on an exclusive virtual beer tasting within the comfort of your own home, to have a drink with Roy van Zutphen from We Are SXM.

Roy will be live on Divico's Facebook page today, Saturday, May 9, at 4:00pm, for an entertaining trip around the world, by tasting six different beers and describing each of its flavours, notes, history, pairings and more! The tasting will take you to Italy, Singapore, UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. This will be the first of two exclusive virtual beer tastings, the second of which is yet to be announced.

Beer enthusiasts will have already ordered their exclusive tasting package, which includes 24 pieces of 12 different beers for two live tasting sessions. Late to the party? Don’t worry; you can still tune in and have a drink with Roy and fellow fans as you learn more about the different kinds of beers that Divico has to offer.

Roy van Zuthpen is a well-loved figure in the local bar scene. Formerly a bartender, Roy now runs We Are SXM, a page promoting quality stayover tourism by offering island information and hosting their popular pub-crawls.

According to Roy, who is planning an entertaining show full of beer tasting information, fun facts, history and appropriate music, “Anyone can tune in and have a beer with us.” The tasting promises to be a “a nice get-together” without actually getting together.

For instance, did you know that despite being from the Netherlands, Heineken is known as the local beer because it was the first beer ever to be imported into the Caribbean. The tasting will take you all around the world as Roy talks about foreign beers such as Asian lager Tiger Beer all the way from Singapore.

Not only will viewers see Roy’s genuine reaction to the different beers (some of which he has never even tried before) but they will also be able to join a ZOOM chatroom to voice their opinion, ask questions, or just enjoy some social contact while social distancing.

Of course, the tasting and the package will still be available after the live stream. So you can tune in, get an idea of the tasting, order the package, call a friend, and plan a tasting at your own leisure, because – as Roy states – “the most important thing is to get people together and put their minds elsewhere.”

The beers are all part of the Heineken portfolio carried by Divico, so you will be able to purchase your favourites at any time. Or just simply order the $25 package now, and have it delivered straight to your door.

The package includes 24 beers – two beers per brand – so you can share. The first tasting will feature the Italian Birra Moretti, the Affligem from Belgium, the British Strongbow, Tiger Beer from Singapore, and of course the Dutch Heineken – both the 0.0 and the regular versions. The other six beers will be reserved for a second beer tasting – still to be announced – in which Roy will taste three different French Desperados, Dutch Amstel Light, Amstel Bright from Curacao, and Jamaican Red Stripe.

Today’s 4:00pm tasting will last approximately one hour, depending on Roy’s drinking speed. Go to Divico’s Facebook page, crack open a beer, and join in on the tasting by watching the live stream and using the accompanying ZOOM chatroom – and make sure to like Divico on Facebook to stay updated.
