Tours of Culture: Enjoy historical & cultural activities with the Sint Maarten Museum

By Foresee Foundation

Last Friday, the Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation launched its “Tours of Culture” project, under the Let’s Act Program. With an emphasis on heritage education and community engagement, the project aims to connect seniors, youth and the wider public to the heritage, environment and culture of Sint Maarten through sharing experiences and stories.

The Sint Maarten National Heritage Foundation & Museum is known for its work in preserving historical artefacts, promoting archaeological research, and curating educational exhibitions. The organization is committed to ensuring that the island’s heritage is accessible and relevant to all. Through the Tours of Culture project, it extends this mission beyond the museum walls, organizing interactive and outdoor heritage activities for all ages to enjoy.

In the coming months, the Tours of Culture project will offer cultural tours, workshops, scavenger hunts, and storytelling events highlighting the rich legacy of Sint Maarten. Participants will explore the island’s flora, fauna, and historical landmarks while engaging with narratives that deepen their understanding of local traditions. Some of the activities will be tailored for children, others for primary and secondary school students, as well as for groups of seniors, helping various generations gain a deeper appreciation of their island’s past and culture.

This project falls within the Let’s ACT Program. Funded by the Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie (FCP), the Let’s ACT Program is a collaborative initiative of CEDE Aruba, the St. Maarten Development Fund (SMDF), and Foresee Foundation 4CF. The program is designed to expand public access to the arts, support local creatives, and build a sustainable cultural and artistic infrastructure in St. Maarten and Aruba. Running from April 2025 through September 2026, Let’s ACT will empower local artists and cultural organizations through funding, training, mentorship, and community engagement.

The next planned activities are Cultural Storytelling for Children in November and a Historical Train Trolley Tour for seniors in December.
