Let’s Talk Art returns: Culture and commerce take center stage

By Foresee Foundation

On June 21st, St Maarten’s creative community takes the spotlight and the microphone at the third edition of Let’s Talk Art, under the powerful theme: “Where Creativity Meets Economy.” This free-entry event runs from 6:00-10:00pm at the Motorworld Showroom in Cole Bay, promising an evening that blends artistry with economic insight.

Now, the third edition is set to push boundaries even further. With the Orange Economy – the sector where culture, creativity, and commerce collide – at its core, this year’s theme spotlights art as an economic driver. It asks: What happens when we stop seeing creativity as an afterthought and start seeing it as a strategy?

Attendees can expect a panel discussion, bringing together voices from across the cultural and business spectrum. Expect raw talk on real issues: how to invest in creative entrepreneurs, how visibility translates into value, and how policy can empower rather than hinder.

Live performances will add emotion and texture to the evening, including a much-anticipated debut by Elona, who will perform from her upcoming EP, The Vulnerable Hour.

The creative showcases and exhibitions will reflect the pulse of the island’s cultural identity. From visual art to fashion, spoken word to design, the event will offer a 360-degree view of what Sint Maarten’s creative economy looks like when it’s given room to grow.

But Let’s Talk Art isn’t about admiration from afar. It’s built for participation. Networking spaces are designed to foster dialogue between creatives, investors, educators, and curious community members. Connections forged here may well become tomorrow’s partnerships, mentorships, or next big ideas.

And the topics on the table aren’t light ones: access to funding, creative infrastructure, tourism’s evolving role, and the need for cross-sector collaboration. These aren’t just conversation starters, they are action points.

This edition is powered by key partners including St. Maarten Development Fund (SMDF), Foresee Foundation, Let’s ACT Project, CEDE Aruba, Cultuur Participatie, and Motorworld, with event support by Walker Events and a dedicated team of creatives and volunteers.

Founded in 2023 by Xhenji Wyatt-Cedeno, Naomi Korstanje, and Darryl York, Let’s Talk Art has grown from a spark of an idea into a force for transformation. They envisioned a space where artists, entrepreneurs, educators, and decision-makers could intersect. A platform where creativity is not just admired, but activated as a tool for development.
