Just do it: Register your organisation for SXM DOET

SXM DOET 2020 marks the sixth year of the annual community service event. After last year’s huge success, SXM DOET is looking for local organisations willing to host projects on this year’s SXM DOET days – Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14.

SXM DOET is part of the greater Koninkrijk Doet, meaning that on each of the Dutch Caribbean islands as well as in the Netherlands itself, a DOET campaign is happening. This adds up to an estimated 400,000 volunteers participating in over 10,000 projects throughout the Kingdom on the same two days in March. It is the biggest volunteer event on the island.

Last year’s event was a great success: Over 2,000 volunteers lent a helping hand at more than 100 projects on the Dutch side of the island. The campaign is organised locally by Be The Change Foundation and funded by the Oranje Fonds in the Netherlands. Local corporate partners also provide much needed assistance through special deals, discounts and donations to participating registered organisations.

At this stage in January, the Project Management Team is busy trying to find organisations willing to host projects on the DOET days. The projects should benefit the organisation itself and be able to be completed through the help of recruited volunteers within the two DOET days. Projects can be held on both Friday and Saturday, or on either one of those days.

Funding up to a max of US $650 is available from the Oranje Fonds for all projects, provided they meet the requirements and criteria. Funding must go towards the raw materials for a project and up to US $150 can be spent on providing food and beverage for the volunteers.

The deadline for projects requiring funding is January 31. Projects registered after this date may not be eligible for funding.

Project registration, funding requests and volunteer sign-ups happen online via the sxmdoet.com website. It's very easy to sign up as an individual volunteer, or group of friends, family, and/or colleagues. All updates and info on events and workshops prior to the DOET days are posted on http://www.facebook.com/sxmdoet and sent to participants via email.

Businesses wishing to collaborate with a particular organisation or partner with SXM DOET itself are encouraged to reach out to the Project Management Team at 586-0808 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
