This Saturday, February 28, almost 100 people will descend upon SXM Padel Club’s grounds to kick off a full day of volunteer missions around the island. Powered by Foresee Foundation, Sint Maarten Development Fund in partnership with the SXM Padel Club, Volunteer.sx, the Impact Quest will bring a mix of nearly 100 youth and adult participants, volunteers, NGOs and sponsors together to celebrate the power of volunteerism and community unity through an eventful scavenger hunt.
With the United Nations’ proclamation of 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, the United Nation’s goal is to promote and recognize volunteerism as a significant force for sustainable development. The wider community involved in the Impact Quest, as well as ongoing volunteer commitments through the Volunteer.sx platform, is among some of the many ways we as an island commit ourselves to the local and global importance of volunteerism to promote a better Sint Maarten and a better world.
The Impact Quest will consist of a volunteer scavenger hunt, a mixer for youth and community members to connect, and grand prizes for teams. Teams consist of four to five persons and will complete exciting mini-missions inspired by real acts of volunteerism. These creative tasks will show how small acts create big change. They will be able to meet the island’s change-makers and discover new causes led by various local NGOs. After the scavenger hunt, they will return back to SXM Padel Club, where the scavenger began earlier that day, to socialize with music, games and padel try-outs. At the mixer, they will also announce team winners for best performance, best decorated car and other competition criteria. Prizes such as electronic items, hotel weekend stays, lunch and dinner vouchers and much more will be given.
Here’s what Ismery Carrosco, one of the organizers, had to say about all this: “This event is especially meaningful because it does not only bring together the community (adults and youths) but also helps raise awareness of some of the amazing change-makers, social causes and NGOs moving our island forward. We’re excited to create a space to support nation building and give our youths the opportunity to connect with the forces behind these initiatives in a fun and engaging way. Through the Impact Quest, we hope to inspire participants to give back to our community through volunteering.” The Impact Quest team would like to extend a special thanks to all sponsors who made this event possible, including Samenwerkendefonds (SFC), SXM padel club, IGY, Winair, WIB, Dominoes, SZV, TelEm, Notary offices Richards and Boekhoudt, Grant Thorntion, and Caribbean Gems, among others.
