Hurricane Season is here – Be prepared with training by the Red Cross

When disaster strikes, every second counts. Be the one who knows what to do, so that you can take action even before the emergency responders arrive. Red Cross Sint Maarten is currently offering First Aid & CPR International Certification Training, which will equip you with the knowledge needed to save a life. Don't wait for an emergency to realise you could have made a difference.

Training sessions will take place at Red Cross Sint Maarten, Airport Road 34, Simpson Bay, from 9:00am to 5:00pm (with one hour break) on the following dates: September 13 and 27, October 11 and 25, November 8 and 22, and December 13. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided. The training costs US $150, and includes an international certificate upon successful completion, valid for two years all over the world. Limited spots are available, so sign up now.

Whether you’re a teacher, parent, caregiver, or work with a team or with the public, this training is for you. St. Maarten being a hurricane-prone, tourism-driven country only increases the need for safety training. Red Cross Sint Maarten offers internationally developed and expertly delivered courses that are practical, affordable, and tailored to real-life scenarios relevant to our environment. You’ll learn life-saving CPR, along with how to respond to wounds, burns, injuries, choking, bleeding, fractures, and more.

Interested in supporting Red Cross Sint Maarten? Donations strategically support its humanitarian goals, while offering opportunities for donor visibility and corporate social responsibility engagement. Programmes include: first aid training and emergency preparedness; shelter and relief logistics during disasters; community outreach, volunteer recruitment, and training; implementation of sustainable humanitarian aid programmes; a school food programme in collaboration with local suppliers; and the SEP programme, a back-to-school initiative in partnership with retailers and schools.

You may also want to consider joining the family by becoming a volunteer – the schedule is flexible and volunteers as young as 12 can join. You’ll make new friends, learn life-saving skills, and help your community thrive. Be part of something bigger, while having fun.
