Virtual workout with Colosseum and Heineken 0.0

Virtual workout with Colosseum and Heineken 0.0

Colosseum SXM partners up with Heineken 0.0 to help you stay fit at home by offering free live workouts every Tuesday and Friday at 5:00pm @colosseumsxm on Instagram.

According to DIVICO Brand Manager Tanvi Goklani, the initiative was brought to life through the thought of giving fitness enthusiasts the opportunity to stay active at home. “There's a lot of people, who are at home missing the gym. And with the growing movement of virtual workouts, it was a great fit to encourage people to work out simultaneously with trainers live, to continue this social element.”

Heineken 0.0 is an alcohol-free alternative with the same characteristics as a regular Heineken – the same quality natural ingredients, just without the alcohol! Through Heineken 0.0's global campaign, the brand taps into many moments where persons "couldn't have a beer", and the partnership with Colosseum is a fun and interesting way to encourage people to have a balanced lifestyle. Heineken 0.0 is for all those times you worked hard at the gym, and wanted to be a part of a social setting, or unwind, without feeling guilty.

Colosseum SXM is a fitness facility established in 2018 by Katsiaryna Ozkan and Alan Schet to promote a healthy and active lifestyle with a social community. They offer a variety of classes and fitness programs, such as CrossFit, Cardio, Strength & Conditioning, Simplified Functional Fitness CTP and Personal Training.

The Instagram live workouts are hosted by Colosseum’s very own Gilda Parisot and Sophia Broere. Passionate about her fitness lifestyle, Gilda Parisot’s CrossFit journey started early 2019. Since then, she has been training five times a week and has shown her dedication as a CrossFit athlete. A CrossFit athlete and coach at Colosseum SXM since 2019, Sophia Broere has always had an interest in fitness and follows a healthy and active lifestyle, which resulted in getting her Bachelor in Sport and Physical Education.

Gilda and Sophia both participated in their first CrossFit Competition in March 2020 in Guadeloupe and wish to improve their skills and compete more in the future. It may come as no surprise that these fitness enthusiasts now try to stay active while stuck at home.

According to Sophia, “Staying at home for a long period of time could lead up to low levels of physical activity which can have negative effects on your physical and mental health. Protect your health during these uncertain times by remaining active.”

Thankfully, Gilda and Sophia have shared some of their favourite tips for staying active at home:

  1. Take short and active breaks: Cleaning around the house, playing with your kids or cleaning the garden contributes to your activity level.
  2. Walk: Even if you don't have a big yard or can't go out for a walk, you could always walk on your spot. Calling a friend? No problem, walk around during the conversation.
  3. Routine: Schedule your daily workout and set your alarm. Treat it like any other important appointment. Wear your workout outfit and just start.
  4. Set a goal just outside of your comfort zone: “I want to join four online workout classes per week.” Write down each time you have done a home workout. Keep challenging yourself.
  5. Join an online workout for extra motivation and guidance during the workout.

The team encourages everyone to participate as the workouts are free of charge. Just go ahead and like colosseumsxm on Facebook or Instagram page and follow @heineken_sxm on Instagram to support. Colosseum also hosts a live Zoom workout on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:00am – this is also free for everyone who wants to join!
