Through Cam's Lens: Balance

Through Cam's Lens: Balance

“What if nothing ever will change?

Oh, I'm caught between your love and a hard place

Oh, I wish there was a right way

I'm caught between your love and a hard place,”

Sometimes, the solitude is really good for my focus. That’s why I end up in the studio working late after the guys leave. Or even when we’re all there, I have my headphones on, in an attempt to get lost in my screen.

Charlie messaged me yesterday to ask for my article. I was like, “Oh dang! It’s Wednesday!” Before attempting to whip this up, I went into my video editing software to prep a project for a client and saw a video that I needed to complete for Castel. “Oh dang! It’s Wednesday!”

So I took a deep breath and said, “One thing at a time, Cam.” I grabbed my keys and my phone, sat in my car with the music playing, and began typing my article.

It’s like you’re caught between a rock and a hard place. It’s like knowing that you need more protein, but there isn’t any space left on your plate. You don’t wanna scrape something off and waste it, but you also can’t eat some of it off, because then you won’t have space in your stomach for the protein. Lol. (Was that a run on sentence?)

One of the things that Castel always preaches and preaches to me is balance. It’s just not the easiest thing sometimes when things have already gotten to an out-of-control state. And planning is good too, Dominique, but the way my days go sometimes, it’s really hard to have a plan that I can stick to. Well, maybe instead of having a 10-step plan, I can create a three-step plan – that might allow for some wiggle room and still some control.

Sounds “balance-y” to me.

Even when I came into my car and I opened the notes app to type my article, I saw my to-do list and said, “Oh Sh-crap! I forgot I had to message Elisia!” More name dropping that you guys might not even know, but try to keep up, nuh.

It’s probably time to hire me an assistant…lol. You wanna be big shot photographer, up and coming videographer and still not have an assistant? Might need to raise these prices to pay for the assistant, but y’all can afford it man.

I’m actually in the process of signing some retainers with a few companies to provide them with content on a monthly basis. I think that will shift my focus a bit and help to eliminate a lot the things on my schedule that are more time consuming than they’re worth.

There are a lot of gigs that cost me so much time and energy, but the price point just doesn’t match. Lol.

Let’s see how it goes anyway. Hopefully next Wednesday will be a better Wednesday.

You know I’ll keep you informed.

Talk about word vomit.
