Maria Eduardo captures second place in the Woman of Heart Awards

St. Maarten born Maria Eduardo has captured second place, as well as multiple awards while representing St. Maarten in the Women of Heart Awards (WOHA) in London. WOHA is an annual competition, in its third consecutive year. Among other prizes, the St. Maartener also captured the title of Face of WOHA International Brand Ambassador 2022, Exceptional Leader Award, Most Impactful Overall Dressed Wardrobe Award and Trail Blazer of Excellence Award.

The Women of Heart foundation focuses on amazing and inspirational women who go above and beyond in their efforts to help others in their country and around the world. The recipients, including leaders and ambassadors, came from a variety of backgrounds from around the world, such as, the United States, Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, Barbados, Puerto Rico, India, London, Tunisia and Brazil.

Nominees were challenged to send in videos on various topics that were given. Being a toastmaster, Eduardo wanted to elevate her public speaking skills through WOHA and thought it would be a great opportunity to advertise her island and raise awareness for female empowerment.

In her introduction video five months ago, Eduardo proudly raised her voice and the St. Maarten flag to bring positive messages to transform and heal our world. After the online auditions, Eduardo was selected as one of the 35 semi-finalists from around the globe before placing in the top five and ultimately landing second place. Maria Eduardo will be traveling to London on November 10 to receive her awards.

“My journey for the past month was quite an amazing one. I had the opportunity to meet so many diverse women around the world,” Eduardo says. “What started off as being a challenge turned out positively at the end, where I was offered the opportunity for personal growth. It was really great representing my country on woman empowerment through the best platform in London.”
