La Poudre aux Yeux:

A 19th-century comedy you do not want to miss

This Friday, March 17, Les Tetes de l’Art present their new play La Poudre aux Yeux at the “La Chapelle” theatre in Orient Bay. Written in the nineteenth century, this French comedy is sure to make you laugh while reminding you of the deception of copiousness.

La Poudre aux Yeux is a comedy from the 19th century written by famous playwright Eugène Labiche from the French academy.

The plot is about two families who intend to marry their children to attain a new social rank to enter high society. Though the plot was written centuries ago, the story is still relevant today.

“Why do we have fancy cars, jewels, external signs of richness? For the others' eyes! And most of the time, it does not reflect the reality,” explains director Laurence Blanc.

The 90-minute play will be performed in French at the La Chapelle theatre. With a beautiful setting, extravagant costumes, and 12 funny caricatural characters who clearly enjoy playing their part; it will be a night to remember!

Get your tickets on theatresxm.fr or pass by La Chapelle; the ticket office is open every day from 6:00 until 7:00pm.
