Escape to Le Mediterraneen

Escape to Le Mediterraneen

Though we are fortunate enough to live on a beautiful Caribbean island, we can use an escape every now and then – especially when that escape includes a fusion of Greek, Lebanese, Turkish and Moroccan cuisine and delicious cocktails served on a beautiful Mediterranean-inspired patio. Thankfully, we don’t even have to leave St. Maarten to experience Mediterranean food and ambiance at Le Mediterraneen in Porto Cupecoy.

Le Mediterraneen’s menu represents a fusion of the Mediterranean cuisine with accents of Lebanese, Greek, Turkish and Moroccan food, Turkish with tajines, couscous, mezzes, salads and grill options – all made from scratch by the restaurant’s talented chefs.

With a wide selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian mezzes such as baba ghanoush, humus, moussaka, falafel, kibbeh and sambuseks, there is an appetizer for everyone. Mediterranean cuisine is made to be shared, so Le Mediterraneen has various cold and hot mezzes sharing plates starting at $9.

Guests can choose from five different tajines, including vegetables, chicken, lamb and kefta options and four couscous dishes with vegetables, chicken, lamb and mixed meats – all served with homemade semolina couscous.

In true Mediterranean-style, the restaurant also offers lots of healthy yet tasty salad options: Think beetroot, Greek fattoush, salmon & shrimp and falafel salad or full grilled cauliflower with tahini yoghurt – all sure to bring a smile to your face.

Grill-lovers, rejoice; for Le Mediterraneen’s menu features plenty of authentic grill-dishes such as kebabs, merguez sausages, taouk or butterfly chicken – all served with one side.

And why not spend you lunch break among the olive trees overlooking Porto Cupecoy’s plaza? Le Mediterraneen’s lunch specials include merguez panini, falafel, chicken or kefta shawarma or wrap and hamburger – all served with fries.

Tomorrow, Friday, December 16, the restaurant will be launching its all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet; because what better way to start the day than on a lovely terrace enjoying a full breakfast and the morning breezes coming off the lagoon.

For $17.50, adults can enjoy a full American-style breakfast buffet, including all the classics, such as eggs sausages, bacon, pancakes, fruit, yoghurts, cereals, and of course coffee/tea. Children ages one to nine can indulge in their breakfast foods for just $9.99.

Of course, Le Mediterraneen’s a la carte breakfast menu will also be available – fresh orange juice, pastries, avocado, smoked salmon, mezzes and omelettes. And this opening weekend, breakers of the fast can enjoy $3.50 Bloody Marys and $4 cappuccinos.

Le Mediterraneen is located in Porto Cupecoy and is open daily from 7:30am until 11:00pm. Closed on Tuesdays. For more information, contact +1 (721) 553-5961.
