Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with all-you-can-eat tacos @ La Patrona

Tomorrow, Friday, May 5, is Cinco de Mayo, one of the most celebrated Mexican holidays worldwide. So, it may come as no surprise that La Patrona, one of our favourite Mexican restaurants on the island, is cooking up a special celebratory meal. Think an all-you-can-eat taco buffet with all the fixings and creative decor, all-you-can-drink Mexican beers, margaritas and all-around-good-vibes in a gorgeous venue with majestic ocean views and stargazing opportunities.

Time for a little history lesson: Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth day of the month of May, is a holiday that commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War on May 5, 1862. The day, which falls on a Friday this year, is also known as the Battle of Puebla Day – a relatively minor holiday in Mexico.

However, Cinco de Mayo has evolved globally into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican populations. And whether you have a connection to Mexico or not, you would probably welcome any excuse for tacos, margaritas and beer, right? We know we would!

Luckily for us, La Patrona is hosting a special Cinco de Mayo celebration with authentic Mexican ingredients, decorations and flavours. For just $32, patrons can indulge in as many traditional Mexican tacos, side dishes, margaritas, beers and sodas as their heart (or belly) desires.

The buffet will be open from 6:00pm until 9:30pm and will include a taco station with various options such as beef, pastor pork, enchiladas and quesadillas complete with different sauces. But make sure to save some space for La Patrona’s famous side dishes such as Mexican rice, pork and chicken pozole chicken mole, carnitas, charro beans, stuffed peppers, ceviche, mole enchiladas, shrimps with green pipian and plantain, and a variety of salads.

Of course, the celebration would not be complete without the restaurant’s delicious desserts. Churros, donuts, tres leches cake, flan napolitano, concha bread and coconut pudding – just to name a few of the available options – are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with La Patrona, located at Simpson Bay Resort, Spa and Marina in the Pelican area. For more information and reservations, call +1 (721) 544-2503 Ext. 5500 or check out their Facebook page @ lapatronasintmaarten.
