Earlier this month, Guardian Group Fatum organised the “My Guardian Group Walk & Run Sint Maarten 2025”, and many kids were also counted among the many determined and speedy competitors. Starting bright and early at 6:00am, more than 500 people participated in total, walking or running in the 10km, 6km, 3km, and 500m routes.
Everyone worked hard and had fun together, pushing all the way to the finish line.
Runners of all ages took part in the 3km run. Sprinting to victory in the Kids U13 races were Axel van den Eyde in the boy’s race, finishing in 17 minutes and 3 seconds, and Chelsea Peterson in the girl’s race in 16 minutes and 3 seconds.
Many young competitors took part in the 500m dash, drawing big cheers from the crowd.
The U7 boys’ race was won by Austin Jeremie, finishing in 2:30, while Aamera Wattley claimed the U7 girls’ title with a determined run of 1:41.
In the U9 category, Evan Chiffre raced to victory for the boys in 1:35, while Kaiko-Lynn Daal lit up the course, crossing first for the U9 girls in 2:01.
The older U11 kids showed strength and spirit, with Nael Messaoudi taking the win for the boys in 1:21, and Mia Reed capturing the girls’ win with a finishing time of 1:28.
Winners in each category gave it their all, crossing the finish line with smiles, determination, and plenty of community support.
Proceeds from the Guardian Group Fatum event go to local organizations that make a difference on the island. This year, contributions will go to the Kingdom Courtyard Foundation as well as a local school foundation, helping to strengthen programs that uplift children and families. The event was made possible by SXM Road Runners, Tri-Sport, Red Cross, and Guardian Group volunteers and staff. Sponsors were Blue Waters, CC1, Forge Fitness SXM, Fresa Fresher, Holland House Beach Hotel, Meadowlands, Oduber Agencies, Penha, Pineapple Pete, and Trisport.
It was a memorable event filled with movement, smiles, and community spirit.
