A Big Live Nature Quiz, for kids across the Dutch Caribbean

~ Attention teachers, registration is required ~

It’s time to get ready for the Kids edition of the Big Live Nature Quiz, a fun online trivia game that’s free to join for primary school students in grades 5 and 6 / groep 7 and 8, all across the Dutch Caribbean islands! The quiz is hosted by the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), and there are great prizes to be won.

Think you and a team of schoolmates are ready for the challenge? Teachers can put teams together and register you to participate.

The Kids edition of the Big Live Nature Quiz was created to bring students together from across the Dutch Caribbean – that’s Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Maarten – “about nature in a fun and interactive way, to instil pride in the islands’ wildlife, support nature-friendly practices, support the projects of the nature parks, and to bring kids of the Dutch Caribbean into contact with each other.”

The quiz takes place on Thursday, November 2, from 8:30am to 9:15am. There is a “marine” theme this year, as it’s all about the ocean or sea. All questions will be multiple choice, and bonus points will be given based on speed. The questions will all be based on the third edition of BioNews Kids, so you can prepare by reading the magazine (online or hard copy).

“The quiz is a true multi-island team effort: created and supported by the six Dutch Caribbean islands including the nature conservation organizations (parks), primary schools, Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) and Dutch Caribbean TV. The quiz questions will be made available in four languages: English, Dutch, Papiamentu, and Papiamento,” says DCNA. “The Big Live Nature Quiz-Kids promises an enriching experience, combining fun and education, fostering a love for nature in the young minds of the Dutch Caribbean.

Want to take part? Teachers can register teams of one person minimum, four persons maximum; and multiple teams are allowed to sign up in each school or class. Teachers can register, receive more details and instructions, and access the online version of the third edition of BioNews Kids at https://dcnanature.org/quiz/

Participation is free of charge. The grand prize is a sailing and snorkel trip for the winning team and their teacher!
