Health Seat interview with Soly Solange

Fitness Model and Personal Trainer

1: Can you take us back to the beginning of your inspiring journey and tell us what led you from teaching French to training bodies and minds?

I was born and raised in beautiful Martinique, a French-speaking island in the Caribbean. I moved to the UK in 2004 and became a high-school French teacher. Teaching was fulfilling, but I discovered something transformative through fitness. Working out in my free time gave me confidence, joy and clarity – it was more than a hobby. In 2012, I decided to follow that passion and became a personal trainer. It felt natural, like I had found my true calling.

2: That’s such a powerful shift. What does fitness mean to you, beyond the physical?

For me, fitness is a journey to self-actualization. It’s not just about abs or lifting weights, it’s about finding your purpose. Through discipline and movement, you discover who you really are. Fitness builds more than muscles; it builds self-control, confidence, and happiness. It becomes your compass.

3: You’ve developed a brand-new One Week Fitness Program. Can you tell us what inspired that, and who it’s for?

I created the One Week Fitness Program for people who are driven in life but need a powerful reset. It’s for CEOs, corporate executives, boss babes – anyone ready to challenge themselves and change their routine. After 13 years of coaching and competing, I wanted to offer something intense, focused, and transformational. This program is about retreating from the noise, reconnecting with your body, and returning stronger, mentally and physically.

4: You’re also competing this season in Canada to qualify for the IFBB Pro Card. What motivates you to keep pushing in your athletic career?

Competing keeps me sharp and committed. I’m constantly setting new goals and raising my standards not just for myself, but to lead by example for my clients. The IFBB Pro Card represents excellence in the sport and it’s a milestone I’ve been working toward with focus and passion. Every competition is a reminder of why I started this journey. From Martinique to the IFBB stage; I’m just getting started.

5: As a coach, how do you keep your clients inspired, especially those just starting their fitness journey?

I meet them where they are, and I help them dream bigger. I don’t just give workout plans; I help them build belief in themselves. I remind them that fitness is not about perfection; it’s about progress, purpose and presence. When they start to feel stronger both mentally and physically, that’s when the real transformation begins.

6: What advice would you give to someone who’s hesitant to start training or feels intimidated by the fitness world?

Start small, but stay consistent. Fitness isn’t about extremes; it’s about commitment. And you don’t have to fit a certain mould to begin. This is your journey. You’re allowed to be a beginner. You’re allowed to fail. What matters is that you keep showing up. That’s where the magic happens.

7: What’s your bigger mission behind SolyFit?

My mission is to empower people through movement. I want to help them reconnect with their strength, rediscover their purpose, and live a life that feels powerful and aligned. SolyFit is more than a program; it’s a lifestyle of growth, discipline and deep self-love.

8. What are your favourite inspirational quotes?

“Fitness is not just what you do – it’s who you become.”

“Muscles are built in the gym. Confidence is built in the journey!”
