The foetus is too far gone to be aborted

Dear Editor,

It is obvious that the management of the school in Betty’s Estate that is currently under scrutiny has not been forthright with the public. With baited breath, we waited for substantial information, but got nothing more than what was already known. As the denial lingers, the clouds of suspicion just multiplies. The institution must realise that the only way to remove this doubt, is to face the reality and come clean. It would have been more understandable if the alleged sexual misconduct did involve two minors; but when the implication surrounds a principal, who is charged with the authority to guide, then the situation is different. Therefore, it cannot be handled in this secretive and dispassionate manner.

Brilliant move by Heyliger & Marlin

Dear Editor,

There was a call by the leaders of the largest political parties in Parliament for independence. As could be expected, very little was carried on the subject in the local press, but be that as it may for us as a budding nation we have finally garnered enough courage to say we stand ready to do it for ourselves. However, this is but a small step, we would hope that all factions in Parliament would come together and approve a referendum in the coming year, where the people can give their blessings to the desire to make use of our right to self-determination, and put an end to the many colonial dictates insults and disrespect.

Should have known

Dear Editor,

It is a very high standard, but a very basic tenement of management. The fact is that a settlement of this size is catastrophic for the harbour.

Open letter to Parliament

Dear Editor,

Please allow me some space in your newspaper to address the chairman of the house of parliament, the honourable Lloyd Richardson and the honourable members of parliament of country Sint Maarten.

Again, is this necessary?

Dear Editor,

I read “an explanation to our readers” and the “Publisher’s Note” and in no way would I think of trying to defend any editor of any newspaper because it remains the prerogative of the editor to print or not to print. What I know is that black on white is condemning.
