Response to letter of Mr. Clive Hodge

Dear Editor,

St. Maarten/St. Martin Alliance For Equality (SAFE) stands by its statement that it is willing to engage in conversation with all people and/or groups as long as the dialogue stays respectful. In light of this, we take note of the opinion piece in your newspaper of Wednesday, July 29, from Mr. Clive Hodge concerning his opinions on LGBT life in general, and SAFE and its objectives and plans specifically.

New law firm

Dear Editor,

In your paper of today, page 9 you, have an article about a new law firm being established. As a devout believer having a big Seventh Day Adventist church here in St. Maarten, I continue to argue my point about democracy here on the Island, and also about the breakdown of the rule of Law.

Seek out meaningful cooperation with the Dutch Government

Dear Editor,

I am one proud Democrat. The opportunities for St. Eustatius that are available under the public entity status are far more than was the case under the bankrupt Antillean Constellation. The advancements achieved with improved healthcare and access to healthcare institutions and medical specialists are many times better than the situation before 10-10-10.

What’s going on?

Dear Editor,

I wonder if anyone has noticed that when driving at night over the hill, or at least a 30-minute drive, how many cars you see driving without any lights on. I mean this can happen to anyone, but most of us catch it in a couple of minutes or less. But while my Grandkids were here, we would take them to Mc. Donald’s over the hill, and I could not get over how much cars you would pass at night with no lights on.
