POINTE BLANCHE--Port St. Maarten has organised 45-minute stakeholders’ cruise experience sessions in the Cruise Terminal Building conference room for Friday and Saturday.
The two-day sessions are for port employees who come in direct first contact with cruise passengers (security, information, other personnel), tour operators, taxi drivers, storeowners (at the port and downtown), as well as other cruise passenger-oriented businesses.
Former Carnival Cruise Line executive Mico Cascais will provide information and tips to prepare stakeholders on the alignment of the cruise guest’s expectations with the current story and the experience they need to deliver when the first guests arrive. He was chairman of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association’s (FCCA’s) Shore Excursion Committee for 18 years.
He is now the principal of Mico Cascais, Inc. a company focused on reshaping the story and experiences cruise guests will enjoy when sailing in the Caribbean.
The sessions are at 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm Friday and every hour between 9:00am and 12:00pm Saturday.
Saturday sessions will cater to companies whose representatives do not have a valid Port ID. All attendees must have a valid photo ID for entry into the port facility. Companies interested should register via

“Port St. Maarten and St. Maarten in general pride ourselves on top standard and memorable experiences for cruise visitors, so we must all put our best effort forward, not just in December, but for the rest of the season," Minister of Tourism and Economic Affairs Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher said on Tuesday.
Cruise ship Viking Sea will make the first post-Irma commercial cruise call to St. Maarten on Monday, December 4.
