MARIGOT--Some 29 individuals recently graduated from the ITEA-Socially Responsible Information Technology Services (SRITS) safety and security courses, obtaining diplomas or certificates in a number of different modules. The ceremony was held in the Chamber of Commerce, Concordia.
ITEA-SRITS is an innovative non-profit organisation based in St. Martin with a sister organisation ITEA Group in Pennsylvania. ITEA SRITS offers programmes that use technology to enhance education, human services, workforce training, civic engagement and community development.
The programmes are designed to close achievement gaps and increase residents’ capacity to learn, develop their skills and recognise their talents, all while promoting self-sufficiency and increasing participation in community and civic affairs. The result is a more educated society, more able workforce, as well as a safer and better-connected community.
The successful adults were: Arrindell Pedrito, Arrindell-Joe Marianne; Benjamin-Gittens Anne-Marie, Carti Sabrina; Cocks-Hildevert Marguerite; Connor Jamila; Doret Sandrine; Duzant Jacqueline; Godet Jacqueline G.; Gumbs Sonyda Y., Minister Hunt Hélène L.; Hunt Marjorie; Pastor Irish-Gumbs Joycelyn Y.; Javois Sandrine; Joe-Ophar Monique; Lake Patrice; Marshall Thérésa; Paka Jean-Marc; Rumnit Roseann and Thomas Rebecca.
Young adults obtaining their diplomas were: Gumbs Shekinah N.J., Gumbs Shemiah N.Y.; Hunt Naïlo; Jno-Baptist Aliana; O’Connell Adaeze N.; O’Connell Arielle A.; O’Connell Kimaya N.; Pakiry Jaïra and Simon Kimarra.
With the growing changes to our climate and the announcement by the national weather services that future storms might be ever more violent, partner Nautisme, Intervention, Sauvetage (NIS) Formation, the ITEA-SRITS Board of Directors and Senior Advisors saw the importance in educating/training individuals, so that they are prepared for the next time disaster strikes. ITEA-SRITS’s goal is to train as many individuals as possible through the promotion of excellent teaching in a friendly and warm atmosphere.
More than 120 people attended the graduation ceremony. Speakers included: Hunt-Pakiry Roselyne (Administrative Officer ITEA-SRITS), Apostle Romney Rosemond, Founding President of Federation of Churches of St. Martin FEDOC, Hunt Helene L. (President of ITEA-SRITS), Amiens Thierry, (Trainer and Representative of N.I.S. Formation), Pastor Gumbs Vincencio (Interim President at FEDOC) and Territorial Councillor for the Collectivité of St. Martin, Davis Bernadette.
