COLE BAY—Bodybuilder Maudienne Profas and Kickboxer Omar Marsham were named female and male athletes of the year at the 4th Annual Brown Pelican Sports Awards ceremony held in Port de Plaisance Sunday evening.

President of the St. Martin Football Association Aristide Conner (l) and President of the St. Maarten Football Federation Jonny Singh announce the kick-off of the SXM Unity Champions League. The competition starts with three games on December 7, at Raoul Illidge Sports Complex.   Action begins at 3:30pm as FC Attackers face Flames United.  At 5:30pm FC Soualiga take on C & D Connection. The final game of the afternoon starts at 7:30pm and features Junior Stars against United Stars. The teams will place each other twice.  The top four will advance to the finals.






St. Maarten’s Gerwin Lake (9) scored the first goal of their away match as the National Team faced Turks and Caicos in the CONCACAF Nations League on Thursday. Lake scored in the 14th minute. Turks and Caicos equalized in the 37th minute.  Remslei Boelijn put St. Maarten ahead in the 45th minute of play. Turks and Caicos equalized again in the 75th minute of play and won in stoppage time. St. Martin is also in Group C. They played Barbados in Anguilla on Saturday and won 1-0.

SIMPSON BAY--Fourteen-year-old Antiguan sailor Ozani Lafond who won 7 out of 11 races to win the Blue Class and overall winner 14th edition of the Sol St. Maarten Optimist Championship.
