SURFACE WINDS:  This Afternoon through Thursday midday: Easterly with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 12 mph. 

SYNOPSIS:   Warm conditions will prevail across the region today. Low level moisture and very light winds may produce cloudy periods with isolated showers and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms across the local area. Sea conditions will remain slight for the next several days. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight to moderate           WAVES/SWELLS: 3 to 5 feet 

SPECIAL FEATURES: A broad area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave is located about 650 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. This system is accompanied by a large but disorganized area of cloudiness and thunderstorms.  This disturbance is expected to move towards unfavorable upper-level winds for cyclone formation.

A tropical wave located between the west coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands is forecast to move quickly westward during the next several days. Some slow development is possible over the weekend or early next week. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of these systems and update the public accordingly.
